We spoke in class a while ago about the "black box fallacy" in which we will have one black box that does everything for us. It will have movies, tv, games, music, and whatever else we could ever possibly want. I agree that this will eventually happen. However, that doesn't say what each of these features will be like. What will future games be like? Will it be full virtual realities? Will there be a move advanced Wii in which the controls are for your whole body? I mean the possibilities are endless. If anyone hears about new news regarding new gaming systems let me know! I'm beyond curious.
Toodles!
Funny part is that current generation systems already do music, games, television, internet, movies (I know both the 360 and Wii support Netflix now), and have their own virtual communities such as Playstation Home. The technology is really advancing quickly as you mentioned. Microsoft already announced Project Natal, which goes beyond a motion sensor controller because there is no controller. You simply move and speak and the game reacts. Playstation has their own project called Playstation Move that uses a motion controller similar to the Wii's.
ReplyDeleteI do think motion controllers are the wave of the future. And then, maybe virtual reality helmets (as soon as they can streamline them).
